Nursery & Childcare Guidelines

Nursery ministry is available for all children from newborn through 3 1/2 years old.  Risen Savior Lutheran Church's nursery provides a nuturing environment where love and care are freely given and security is of utmost importance.  This environment helps lay the early foundation for these children to know the Lord Jesus and His love for us.

The nursery is open for Sunday morning services and Bible study  from 9:15 am to noon.  There is NO nursery at the 8:00 am service.

CHILDCARE GENERAL INFORMATION

General Guidelines

  • Only children age three and under are allowed to use the nursery on Sunday mornings.
  • At least one adult over the age of eighteen years old will be scheduled for each service or event and will be responsible for the care of no more than five children under the age of 3.  There will be one childcare worker for every two infants in any childcare situation.
  • Volunteers and childcare workers have the right to inform parents that the nursery is full when the number of children to adult ratio has been reached.  Then, parent(s) are invited to stay with their child in the nursery.
  • Volunteers and childcare workers should arrive ten minutes prior to the time of the event for which they are scheduled.
  • No pets are ever allowed in the nursery.
  • A child is not welcome in the nursery or childcare if they have experienced any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hour period: fever, runny nose, cough, or diarrhea.
  • Parents must be participating in a Risen Savior Lutheran Church event at all times while their child/children are being cared for in the nursery or childcare at Risen Savior Lutheran Church.
  • Children need to be checked in/out of childcare by a parent and will be given a nametag.
  • Parents must be given a beeper when the child is checked into the nursery.  This beeper must be returned in order to retrieve his or her child.

Discipline Procedure
Children are expected to be respectful toward adults, other children and property while in childcare.  When this is not the case, it is appropriate and necessary for childcare staff to intervene and correct the behavior of a child.  A childcare staff person is also expected to intervene if the safety or security of a child is at risk.  Behavior that involves throwing things, kicking, rough housing and running is not acceptable as it increases the risk of injury to the children in our care.

Acceptable Correction

  • Ask the child to stop what they are doing.
  • Remove the child from the situation and have them sit away from group for a while.
  • Redirect the child to a more appropriate activity.
  • Page the parent if continued correction is needed.
